    GVST Update, 4/25/21

    GVST Families,

In our recent email about summer swim meets, we mentioned a switch to M-F practices, starting on May 17th. Here are details regarding that change.

Since we re-opened for our modified summer program last June, GVST has used a MWF and TTS practice schedule, which has also been utilized by the GVHRA’s stroke clinics, to provide for social distancing during practices.

With the easing of state & local restrictions, we will be returning to a traditional M-F practice schedule, based on age groups, beginning on Monday, May 17th. This will increase the amount of practice time that swimmers have available to them, while also opening up Saturdays for the meets that we have scheduled for June and July.

We have reduced the overall number of swimmers in our program by about 100 fewer swimmers than in a “normal” year. We will have an average of about 4 swimmers per lane for practices, compared to our normal average of 7 swimmers per lane in a typical season.

Please make note of the new schedules below.

M-F practice schedule, starting May 17th

    TimeAges
    3:15-3:455-7
    3:50-4:308-9
    4:35-5:1510
    5:20-6:0011-12
    6:05-7:0013-18

    Summer schedule, starting June 28th

    TimeAges
    8:00-8:305-7
    8:35-9:158-9
    9:20-10:0010
    10:05-10:4511-12
    10:50-11:4513-18

We know that these changes to the practice schedule will require some adjustments to family schedules, and we apologize for any inconvenience that may cause. However, we are hopeful that these changes will be beneficial to our swimmers in providing them the best program we can offer.
